Greetings from Off Center for the Dramatic Arts!
As the darkness of the season descends, we'd like to shine our warm spotlight on you, friend! Off Center is the most affordable theater space in Burlington, which makes it a vital home for new and experimental work. You may already be aware of this fabulous space. Maybe you are a theater artist yourself, or maybe you are a much-needed and applauded theater enthusiast. Thank you for all the ways that you support Off Center!
We had a great year in 2015, due largely to the success of the OC@OC (Original Content at Off Center) project, which premiered 13 original, local plays! Last year (2016) saw the production of five original plays; two youth theater company productions; published plays produced by local companies employing local artists; nights of play readings, poetry, and storytelling; Off Center's Fourth Annual Fringe Festival, which featured over 20 local, original performances in four nights; the premier of Wrecking Ball, a political cabaret; and Playmakers, a recurring works-in-progress reading series that encourages collaboration by connecting playwrights to other members of the theater community.
Without Off Center and its affordable rates, many of these productions could not have happened. That said, as with any theater, rental fees, even when we're fully booked, don't quite cover our bare-bones operating costs. So, yes, we need your help.
This year will be an exciting one for Off Center. Our newly expanded board is working hard to keep us vibrant and to refine our niche in the arts community of Northern Vermont. Please consider making a tax-deductible, charitable contribution to Off Center for the Dramatic Arts today. Anything you can give would be enormously helpful. We really mean that. Anything.
