*ZERO TO SKETCH - Feb 2, 2025 - How to participate
Facilitated by comedian Brian Hines
Are you totally new to sketch writing? Have you been writing for years for SNL? Are you somewhere in between and would love the madness of writing sketches to be performed in a few hours? Join all levels of sketch comedy writers in a welcoming, inclusive environment to create a show the same night!
This full day write-a-thon will focus on writing sketches in a collaborative manner (think writing partners and a writers room) while starting with absolutely zero ideas. It will end with a live read through in front of an audience!
This is an all-day event (Starts at 1pm and we'll have our performance in front of an audience at 7pm).
It's FREE and first come, first serve! Register here: [email protected]

When magic ruled the U.S. Postal Service, there was an entire division devoted to receiving and, if possible, rerouting undeliverable, non-returnable mail. “Dead letter detectives” did their best to carry senders’ missives as far as they could go; unsuccessful attempts would be shelved for posterity and eventually sold. After the death of magic in the 1990’s, The Dead Letter Office was rebranded as the Mail Recovery division, with Centers in disparate locations. Time for another re-org, America!
During The Dead Letter Office, writers will read their work—letters to and/or from anyone or anything, real or imagined—or enlist area carnies to perform on their behalf. This event, launching as part of the Off Center for the Dramatic Arts’ Hatch Series, creates a space for all of the messages we need to send but don’t know how to deliver.
