it's time to write our second act
The Off Center for the Dramatic Arts was founded in 2010 as a non-profit organization devoted to running an affordable, intimate, professionally appointed performance venue. In the past eight years we have grown to be a center for local playwrights, independent production companies, creators, performance artists, students, musicians - we are proud to be a theater space that welcomes everyone, encourages our fellow artists to imagine their work and put it on stage.
Off Center provides the place where performing arts can begin. |
We are seeking a new Space to Dream
We have been very fortunate for the past eight years to call our current venue in Burlington's Old North End home. However, due to circumstances beyond our control, we are hunting for a new location. Our current space will no longer be available for our use as of late spring 2019.
Please note that we are actively booking our current space until April 2019, and there are a lot of exciting shows, showcases and events happening all fall, winter and early spring - including our annual Burlington Fringe Festival, the regular Playmakers Reading Series, the Off X-mas cabaret, the Spring Open Artist Showcase, as well as terrific shows produced by our beloved renters, like Stealing from Work, Meredith Gordon, Moose Jaws, Rue Mevlana, and many more. We are open for business, and our business is being the best independent and affordable theatre/performance venue in town. We also are the proud rehearsal and workshop space for such companies as Vermont Stage Company, Revelry Theater and Shelburne Players. Contact us for space availability - we would love to have your work on our stage this last season in the current OC space.

OUR Next actions:
The Off Center operates as an all-volunteer non-profit organization on a very tight budget. Our daily operations are handled by an active board of artists and community members, who are all committed to making sure this space resource is available to the performing arts community of Burlington and Vermont.
We are excited by this new challenge - to find the perfect place in the Burlington area to make affordable performing arts accessible to everyone. We are also looking for your help. Do you have a suitable space to share? Do you have suggestions for businesses or other organizations who value the cultural capital of an active performing arts scene? We are open to new ideas, new partners and new approaches to help us find the best new home.
We would love to hear your suggestions and ideas - please contact us at [email protected] with the subject line "Next Home".
And stay tuned for more information on upcoming events and shows - you can follow us on Facebook, on Twitter or Instagram. And please subscribe to our newsletter in the mailing list below to stay up to date with all the new adventures, campaigns and challenges of the coming season. We will keep you in the loop on the search for our next home.
See you at the theatre!
